First industry job: “His first job was pulling refrigerators off trucks for Sears and Roebuck,” said Dirk Kettlewell. “He started in the stock room”.

Career History: “I left Sears and went to Circuit City in the management training program,” he said. “I became a department manager for appliances. Then they moved me from there to market manager, where I had merchandising responsibilities for about 30 stores.” He later worked for Montgomery Ward for five years as senior audio buyer before starting at OfficeMax as a buyer, He said he’s been with OfficeMax for five years, working his way up to senior vice president. He joked, “I’m the oldest 38-year-old you’d ever meet.”

Favorite business achievement: “It’s the role my team played in OfficeMax’s return to profitability,” said Dirk. “It’s really my most significant achievement.

Personal take: Dirk added, “I’d like to complete the journey to make OfficeMax the number-one technology destination with the office product superstore ranks.”

Dirk Kettlewell has served as Senior Vice President – Omni Channel for OfficeMax since 1997.  Dirk has 20 years of experience in Retail, Ecommerce, B2B and Distribution, while having worked for such giants as Sears, Montgomery Ward and Circuit City. His vast P&L responsibilities have included Merchandising, Marketing, Ecommerce, Supply Chain, International Product Procurement, Product Development, Business Development, Strategic Planning and Multi-Store/Unit Management.

             In March of 2003, Dirk Kettlewell also received accolades from the Boomer Esiason Foundation by being named a “Quiet Giant” for his support in raising over $2.0 million in the fight to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
